Cenote Hopping

Experience the natural beauty and ancient legends of the Yucatan Peninsula’s cenote sinkholes you will explore four pools tucked in the jungle. After a ferry boat trip and sightseeing bus ride, you’ll find yourself hiking deep into the forest to discover Casa Tortuga, a series of freshwater wells situated in underground caverns. A cenote, derived from the indigenous Mayan word for “well,” was considered the gateway to the Xibalba underworld, where Chaac, the god of rain, lived at the bottom of the dark caves. Today you’ll have the chance to swim and use complimentary snorkel gear to splash around the crystal-clear waters of four distinctive cenotes, admiring the craggy limestone bedrock edge, dangling stalactites, and soaring stalagmites that surround you. This tour is provided by an operator that has been third-party certified to meet the Global Sustainable Tourism Council’s Criteria for Tour Operators.
